About the event

Programme

This is a free public event, starting at 1pm with drinks, food and fun family entertainment available. Public viewing on baked entries will be available from 2pm.

For competitors

· 1pm - Entries booked in

  • 2pm - All baked items on display
  • 3pm - Judging and Prizegiving

· Anyone who wishes to take home their bakes should ensure these are collected by 4pm at the latest.

General Information

· You may enter multiple categories, however limited to one bake per category.

· We welcome all non-professional bakers, regardless of age or ability and any professional bakers or businesses who wish to take part. .

· The cost to enter is £2.00 per bake, with all proceeds donated to

· The Junior Signature Bake category is free-to-enter.

· To enter, you can register before the event, or you can register on the day if space is still available. We have 15 spaces for each category, which are on a “first come, first served” basis.

· To keep your bake fresh and looking its best you may wish to display it in a transparent container, such as a covered cake stand. Please don’t forget that members of the public will be keen to view all your fabulous creations!

The Categories

Technical Challenge - The Platinum Pudding! The recipe sent after registration, it must be used in full as the basis for this bake (i.e., no tweaking or embelishments).

Signature Bake - This is the recipe that never lets you down and shows off your baking skills at their very best. Please choose ONE of the following signature bakes

· Six biscuits

· Six scones (savoury, fruit, or plain)

· Six cupcakes.

Junior Signature Bake - This category is for under 16’s only. Please choose ONE of the following signature bakes.

· Six biscuits

· Six scones (savoury, fruit, or plain)

· Six cupcakes.

Show Stopper Cake - Something a little special, be it an unusual flavour combination, a spectacular construction, or a quirky design. Your show stopper cake should stand out from the crowd, and have a real ‘WOW’ factor. Don't forget, beautiful presentation is key to success in this round!

Please note that due to Health & Safety rules we are unable to accept meat-based bakes or anything made with fresh cream.

· A runner-up prize and a rosette will be awarded for 2nd and 3rd places in each category.

How to Enter

· Contact us on info@thecockhorseinn.co.uk to apply for your entry.

  • Space is strictly limited to 13 entrants (a baker’s dozen) per      category.
  • On the day of the competition please drop off your bakes between      1pm and 2pm at the Bake-Off tent. Please note that any entries received      after 2pm cannot be entered into the competition.
  • The organisers would like to encourage all entrants to donate their      bakes so that they can be sold for donations. 100% of the proceeds will be      used to fund community projects.
  • If you book a ticket, but can no longer take part in the      competition, please let the organiser's know by emailing email info@thecockhorseinn.co.uk,      so that someone else can take your place.

Competition Rules

· The competition is open to all non-professional bakers and all ingredients must be safe and legal.

· The cost to enter is £2.00 per bake (plus Eventbrite fee). The junior category is FREE.

· All entries must be baked by the person in attendance on the day, and winners must be present at the prizegiving ceremony to accept their prize.

· Winners will be asked to participate in photographs that will be published in the local press and on social media.

· We ask if all bakes can be kindly donated to the organisers will be sold after the prizegiving ceremony.

· Place cards and exhibits must remain in situ throughout the event.

· The committee reserves the right to refuse an entry and accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to any bakes or equipment.

· All judging is 'blind' i.e., the judges will not know the identity of the entrant.

· The judge's decision is final and discussions will not be entered into.

· Due to Health & Safety rules we are unable to accept meat-based bakes or anything with fresh cream.
